The conflict between the Iranian backed Houthies and Salafi movement supported by Saudi Arabia and UAE have created the worst humanitarian crisis in recent times. Majority of the flights in and out of the country are now cancelled. Food, water and all basic essentials are scarce. It’s clearly the least desired place on earth for a tourist. In normal times, Yemen can be one of the most hospitable places around. The Shahareh mountains towering 8500 feet above scorching hot plains of central Yemen is a sight to behold. So is Perim, a volcanic island in the Strait of Mandeb at the south entrance into the Red Sea.
