16. Rhodesian Ridgeback
Originally from South Africa, this dog breed is also called African Lion Hound because of its ability to keep prowling lions at bay. Rhodesian Ridgebacks are extremely athletic creatures and can also be loyal and intelligent. They are very sensitive to rough treatment especially when young. The dogs can be 27 ins tall and can weigh up to 40 kgs.
