9. Russia
Russia is by far the largest country in the world occupying one-eights of the earth’s land area and straddling two continents, Europe and Asia. It has a complex history having being invaded by the Mongols, the Eastern Slavs, the Tartars and later on by the Germans. A sight synonymous with the country are onion-shaped domes of churches dotting the numerous cities of European Russia suggesting the strong influence of the Roman Empire at some point of its history. Grand Kremlin Palace of Moscow, once the resident of Russia’s supreme rulers, The Tsars, is a great tourist attraction and so is the Red Square, also situated in the capital city. Russia also holds great monuments to the founders of the Communist ideology like Lenin, Stalin and Marx. A staggering 81 tourists landed in Russia during 2017.
