23. Hungary
Among the Eastern European countries, Hungary is among the most liberal and progressive. The country has survived major wars and revolts despite which it is a great draw for visitors. One of the biggest such draws is the Buda Palace harking back to 1686 house to the great Habsburg monarchy.. The palace consisting of 200 rooms is now a UNESCO Heritage site. Another great attraction is the Europe’s iconic river Danube that flows from the North to the South and bisects the capital Budapest. On either sides are towns Buda and Pest that is linked by the Freedom Bridge. Another great draw is Lake Heviz, the largest thermal lake in the world located in Western Hungary.
