7. Karolinska Institute, Sweden
The prestigious Swedish medical institute is located in Stockholm. Established in 1810 as an academy aimed at training skilled army surgeons, the Karolinska Institute has come a very long way. Being a research and teaching hospital, several research and PhD programs are undertaken here. About 40% of the country’s academic medical and life science research is conducted here.
